FCCA News

Letter from the President:

When getting set to write this letter for the newsletter and website I had just finished shoveling 27 inches of snow off my 3-season porch and garage roofs. I looked at the first two paragraphs of my last letter and began to wonder what this winter was going to bring for the end of 2007 in Concord, NH. It looks like we will best the December snowfall record set in 1876 at 43+ inches. I also know that our radio systems have been getting a real workout.

Again, a reminder that the deadline for changing over to narrow band is January 1, 2013 and it’s just around the corner for those dealing with normal budget cycles. It will require changes to your FCC licenses.

In addition to our regular frequency coordination, the FCCA also does microwave frequency coordination. If you need changes or new frequencies please give us a call. This is just part of our full service effort to provide for your needs.

Our 59 th Annual Meeting dates will be October 4-8, 2008. The location will be announced at the end of January. But for you who do a lot of future planning our 60 th Annual Meeting will be held in Orlando, FL on October 3-7, 2009. In the future we will be using major hubs for our conferences to make travel easier and less costly for our members and vendors.

For our vendors, please do not hesitate to call Roy Mott who will again be heading the registration and coordination for vendors for our 59 th and 60 th meetings. To our members and visitors, please take the time and review the list of our vendors who have supported us over the years, especially during the past few years when budgets have been tight and kept our membership from attending previous meetings.

Again, we look for ways to remain relevant to our member’s needs and will be working closely with our parent organizations, the National Association of State Foresters and the Association of Fish and Wildlife agencies to make this happen.

2008 looks to be an interesting and challenging year and we should see some very interesting development in the 700 MHz arena – stay tuned.

Paul

P.S. The FCCA Frequency Coordinators are here to help – so please contact them and give us a chance to do your radio frequency coordination which now includes microwave. We know you will be most pleased with the service and experience of our team.
